Mark & Debbie’s Travel Journal: An introduction
For those readers who have been following some of our other blogs, welcome to a “new” blog: our travel journal.
Our “Riding Two-Up” blog’s image collection has nearly filled our library and most of the content is now ‘Private”, so it seemed like a good time to further sub-divide our blog content into yet a new fourth volume dedicated to our epic trips, given they tend to be photo-rich in content.
While this is technically the “first” entry in the new on-line journal, I’ve back-stopped it with three other vacation trips just so it doesn’t feel so lonely out here as there won’t be a lot of entries in this journal.
Our original WordPress site, The TandemGeek’s Blog, will continue to be used exclusively for tandem cycling related content as a courtesy to our long-time readers from the previous TandemLink website and various forums to which I previously contributed.
I made our follow-on WordPress site, Riding Two-Up, where I published my weekly journals and various entries related to our motorcycling adventures content mostly ‘Private’ after realizing I had placed far too much information out in the public domain in a world where that’s no longer prudent.
Thank you for your readership and support….

Note: For the past few years most of our travel time has been consumed with trips to visit my mother in Pennsylvania, interspersed with short visits to Jekyll Island, Georgia. However, those visits are captured in my now private ‘Riding Two Up’ Journal Entries. If we return to taking epic trips, I’ll resume publishing those here.
A Little More Background: Creating this type of a detailed, web-based historical resource more-or-less became a hobby of mine in March 2022 when I first decided to dive into and capture the history of our beloved, nearby Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
That inspired me to learn more about the history of the city of Marietta, the state of Georgia and our local county.
After that, I produced a series of articles on the Bell Bomber Plant & Lockheed in Georgia, my former employer of some 34-years, 27-of-which were here in Georgia.
Over the past year, I began to create an on-going series of articles related to exhibits at the Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville Georgia that has turned into something of an obsession. And, the latter was something I needed to take a step away from, which my research into Jekyll Island’s history enabled me to do.
